I Sat There Not Knowing

Just a quick note of thanks for your prayers and kind notes from my email yesterday. This morning as I was praying to the Lord it was though He put His hand on my shoulder and said, “Shhh.”

Ten Simple Rules

We have the Ten Commandments as a guide on how to live our lives and we are to observe these rules God gave us. The group MercyMe has a cute little song that helps us to remember them with the chorus teaching:

And the Lord said
Have no other gods but God
To worship idols just won’t do
Be careful with the way you use God’s name
And keep Sunday special too.
Honor your parents, don’t take any lives.
And when you’re old enough to marry, be true.
Do not steal or lie
Or want those things that don’t belong to you
These are ten simple rules God gave to me and you

We Want The World To Hear

Yesterday as I was writing my devotional I was listening to music on my iTunes and I wanted to first hear a song by a local band that’s become very successful in their ministry, Big Daddy Weave. Depending On That Which The Grace of God Never Gave Them

Do you find yourself still depending on you and not God? From what power reservoir do you draw? Too many times I find myself drawing on my natural abilities instead of Holy Spirit power. You Are God Alone

Yesterday at church we sang the song “You Are God Alone” by Phillips, Craig & Dean (see video above). I particularly like the second verse that Shawn Craig sings because he belts out the last line with such power:

    You’re the only God
    Whose power none can contend
    You’re the only God
Whose name and praise will never end
    You’re the only God
Who’s worthy of everything we can give
    You are God
And that’s just the way it is

Only Temporary

I am a huge fan of MercyMe and for Karen’s birthday last year I bought her front row seats and tickets to meet the band before the concert to have our CDs signed. They are a fine bunch of young Christian men who are blown away by how God has used their music. Karen reminded them of when they came to Switzerland to be the worship group for the youth retreat that our daughter Tiffany attended.
