Better Than The Fancy Of Most Learned Men

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Today is February 1st, which means it is the first day of February. That means today will be the first day of the succeeding 28 days of February (2012 Is a leap year). So that means we are starting February 2012 today.

You’re probably thinking I must be starving for a topic on which to write. Actually, God gave me this topic as I opened my eyes and laid in bed after my alarm awoke me. God told me He wanted me to write about beginnings. Why? Because everything starts somewhere. There is always a beginning.

A Most Solemn Trust

Friday, January 20th, 2012

One year from today our nation will inaugurate either the 45th President of the United States or Barack Obama for a second term. As a nation we face the most important presidential election of my 55 years (when I vote) on earth. Some would say in history. I would say it is a close second to the election of 1860, because our nation’s survival hung in the balance then.

So what should we look for in our next president? Too many of us, me included for the longest time, looked for perfection whether we want to admit it or not. The truth of the matter is we all have fatal flaws and none of us are truly fit for office, for too many reasons to list right now. I know it gets very confusing in this time of year, and that is one of the reasons we began Aletheia Group L.L.C.; to help discover the truth no matter where it leads.

Struggling With Honesty

Friday, July 1st, 2011

This week we’ve looked at what the Bible has to say about the moral characteristic of honesty. We know that if aletheia truth is going to prevail in our lives, then honesty should be the hallmark of our lives.

Despairing Of Everyone

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Aletheia is a Greek philosophical word that means truthfulness that corresponds to reality. This means we can trust Biblical, aletheia, truth because it is true and it is real. It is undeniable. Do people deny this truth? Of course, but it does not make it any less true.

The Very Essence Of Hypocrisy

A Monstrous Problem

Friday, June 10th, 2011

I was once told by someone, and no doubt you’ve heard a variation of this, that he did not need to go to church because he had a personal relationship with God and he just did church at home. What do you say to that? God simply had me ask this person a simple question: “How’s that working out for you?” Silence was the answer.

We Have Made Lies Our Refuge

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Absolute truth is a casualty of the times. Postmodern thinking has made moral relativism the norm for most of the western world. Absolute truth, known in the Bible in the Greek as aletheia, is scoffed and scorned at by secular humanists inside academia and our courtrooms across America. That was not always so. The Lord willing I feel lead to spend the month of June looking at aletheia truth in preparation for a new venture we will be launching on July 5.

Your Today Is My Everyday

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Karen and I received wonderful emails and phone calls yesterday from people around the country letting us know that they were thinking of and praying for our families on Memorial Day. We don’t do Memorial Day services; that’s one hurdle we haven’t jumped over. I’m not able to go to those events. Something keeps me away. I truly do want to pay respects to our fallen heroes, but it’s just too personal for me.

For They Are Stronger Than We Are

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Today is the 150th Anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. It is considered our first modern war; it was by far America’s most costly. The thing that always amazes me, so eloquently and poignantly illustrated in Ken Burn’s “Civil War”, is the courage under fire of the men facing sure carnage.

The Message They Wanted To Hear

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

If we have the Bible and endless commentaries, commentaries that are solid in their exegesis, then how is it that so many are led astray? How can we have a solid track record of Biblical Christianity where the truth has reigned and yet false teachers can rise up? How is it possible for a man such as Rob Bell to be the “hottest” preacher in America and to have a widely received blasphemous book? Because it is prophetic and the Apostle Peter warned us nearly two thousands years ago:

Over the past 3½ years since losing Eddie, one of the blessings of my life is the friends I have made. In God’s Providence and through Eddie’s article, I was able to meet and become close friends with Mark Levin. And through Mark’s radio show and my occasional appearances there, many of his listeners have befriended me. One of those friends is Michael Prell.

Outward Profession of Godliness

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Last night was the last of our revival services and I thank God for showing up in my life. God showed me areas that had become idolatrous. He showed me that although it is wise to plan for the future, that I am not in control of it; He is. As Bro Brad Lowery likes to say, “Can I get an amen?”

I Can’t Hear You God!

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Last night Bro Brad Lowery preached from Isaiah 6:1-8, a very familiar passage that we looked at for the very first time. Don’t you just love it when that happens?! You want to? Read it then:
