My friend and brother in Christ John Haskins has once again written something that invaded my comfort zone. If you are a regular reader of my blog you’re familiar with John’s no-nonsense approach to the aletheia truth of the gospel.
The last question that Dr. Dennis Brunet of Midway Baptist Church in Gulf Breeze, FL asks is directed to Christians; those of us in the pews.
Question 4 has four questions within it that are directed to born-again believers.
In this next segment Bro Dennis addresses what I have been calling for at my devotional for quite some time.
It is long past time for pastors to begin preaching the unfiltered gospel truth.
This segment is less than 6 minutes long, but as Bro Dennis likes to say:
It’s chock-a-block full of good stuff.
This next question is addressed to the politicians and if Bro Dennis had been addressing a joint session of Congress 99% of the 535 backsides would have been squirming in their seats.
Continuing with the sermon by Dr. Dennis Brunet, Senior Pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Gulf Breeze, FL, Dr. Brunet asks the first of four questions for America. Bro Dennis covers a lot of ground on this question so I have broken it into two segments.
As you know I have long proclaimed the need for pastors across America to preach God’s Word unapologetically and unashamedly. If we can find pastors willing to boldly preach the Word and comment on today’s societal ills, perhaps our county can be saved.
Special Note: It is hard to believe but I have double-checked; this is the 500th devotional I’ve written. My gratitude to the Lord Jesus for His grace and my appreciation for all of you overflows my heart this morning. A heartfelt thank you!
Last Sunday our pastor preached the type of sermon that I have been advocating at this devotional and at my blog. Look for it at my blog in the near future. I want everyone to copy it and pass it on to their pastors and parishioners and encourage their pastors to preach such messages. Bro Dennis said something that stuck to me and I had to write it down. It’s the title of this devotional. He said that Christians are born again to battle. Battle what?
During Sunday School this past week I made the point that we should address the Scriptures first before we Google or Wikipedia an area of interest. What does the Bible say about a particular subject should be our first question. Alas, I’m sure it is an afterthought for most if at all. Well Bro Dave are you saying we can find answers to every subject in life in the Bible? Yes, if God means for us to know the answer!
July 2, 1776 has never received its fair due. It is never called upon in remembrance of anything significant in American history, and yet it is a most epoch day. It is the day that the declaration for independence was accepted by the thirteen colonies. It is the day that the United Colonies of America ceased to exist and the United States of America became a nation.
To quote my friend Mark Levin…
