Living in Florida and being from California, I’m quite used to the sun. In fact I used to crave the sun. However, as I’ve gotten older I’ve become less partial to the hot sun. I have to have my sunglasses whenever sunlight is present, and I love me some shade on a sunny day.
Did you realize that God actually shades us from the hot sun? Not only does He shade us, He also protects us from the moon crashing to the earth. God perfectly designed Earth to be the exact distance from the sun to provide us what we need from it. He also put the moon into orbit at the perfect point so Earth’s gravitational pull would not allow the moon to collide with Earth.

This past Monday evening at our Men’s Bible Study, our pastor encouraged us to “Just look for what will bring glory to Christ and move in that direction.” Let that one soak in for a while. If I will look for the things that bring glory to Christ that will be time well spent. For whatever brings glory to Jesus brings glory to God the Father.
The particular instance Brother Dennis was referring to is when things are happening and you don’t know what to do. We are often times tempted to speak and we end up blabbering. I can definitely speak for myself in this case. Nevertheless, instead of saying something incoherent or irrelevant, just be silent and look for what will bring glory to Christ. And then move in that direction.

Our nation is facing some difficult issues, from the threat of Islam to the growing national debt; America is at a crossroads in history. In the fifty years that I’ve been paying attention to our nation’s history and current events, truly “these are the times that try men’s souls.”
We should always turn to God and His word to determine the appropriate actions to take when facing untested waters. The Old Testament gives us a great example of a nation and its king facing a truly dangerous moment and the Biblical solution to a problem.

There is only one God. If this is not true, then the Bible is a lie. People may have their own gods, or be their own god, however it is a lie. Mormons do not worship the same God as I do; neither do Muslims. If they do, then the Bible must be declared a lie, and it was by those two belief systems because they wrote their own religious books. More importantly, they have violated God’s First Commandment. God declares of Himself:
“And God spoke all these words, saying: ‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.’” (Exodus 20:1-3)

Yesterday our pastor reminded us that sometimes we need to have a good talk with ourselves. Life can get us so cross-threaded that we look at it as though it is all we have. The Christian life is a sojourn on earth on our way to eternal paradise with Christ. We should not put our hope in things of this world instead of King Jesus:
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.” (Psalm 42:5)
