My pastor likes to say that getting old isn’t for sissies. I couldn’t agree more. Never mind the physical aspects of growing old, the spiritual pressures can be overwhelming. In my generation we have seen socially both rapid progress and rancid perversion. It’s enough to make an older person just want to retire and fade into the sunset. That would be a waste of much power and prudence.
The writer of Psalm 71 was either old age or at least thinking of growing old when he wrote:

No, this is not about movie stars. This devotional is about behavior. On second thought, it could very well relate to movie stars and their behavior. Nevertheless, most times that I’ve put myself in the proverbial pickle, it has been a result of my acting hastily and not thinking through things. There is great wisdom in taking time to make a decision, especially when time is on your side.

I have a sin to confess. I hate someone. His name is Mikey Weinstein. He is a God-hater. He is president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation and has made it his mission in life to remove Jesus from the military. He makes military leaders quake in their loafers. I try to focus my hatred on his actions, but my wicked heart and flesh rise up in hatred towards him.
It is okay to hate the vile actions of men, but we are to love all men regardless of who they are. Hatred towards men never produces fruit; love brings an abundant harvest for the glory of God:

Imagine Jesus performing a miracle in your hometown and the business leaders asking him to leave because Christ was bad for business. Could there ever be a situation where man would choose profit over the Prophet? It happens all the time. In fact, it happened to Jesus:
“And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region.” (Mark 5:16-17)
