The following is one of my favorite scenes from “The Wizard of Oz”:
The funniest part in the scene is the Cowardly Lion taking the advice of “I’d turn back if I were you.”
But what is not funny is that it appears we have a Cowardly United States Supreme Court:

In just one more mind-boggling decision, U.S. Supreme Court refuses to hear the case of a football coach prohibited from bowing his head during his team’s pre-game prayer. Now here is the worse part of the Court’s refusal to hear this case: the school board with the help of Barry Lynn’s Americans United for the Separation of Church and State argued that Coach “Borden has no constitutional rights of expression or academic freedom in connection with his duties as a teacher and coach.”
So as a teacher or a coach your First Amendment right of free expression ends at the school grounds. You hear that Coach Lashley of Navarre High School? Do you realize your constitutional rights are now limited 7 to 8 hours a day Mrs. Schreffler of Buckhorn Elementary School?
The Constitution gave limited powers to the Judiciary for just such a case:
“This independence of the judges is equally requisite to GUARD THE CONSTITUTION AND THE RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS from the effects of those ill humors, WHICH THE ARTS OF DESIGNING MEN, or the influence of particular conjunctures, sometimes disseminate among the people themselves, and which, though they speedily give place to better information, and more deliberate reflection, have a tendency, in the meantime, to occasion dangerous innovations in the government, and SERIOUS OPPRESSIONS of the minor party in the community.” (Federalist Paper #78, emphasis added)
In an earlier daffy declination to hear a clear case of needed constitutional clarity, the Court also refused to hear numerous cases FROM CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA…THAT IS WE THE PEOPLE as to the constitutional eligibility of Barack Obama.
Oh no, not that again! I know Ann Coulter thinks we are nothing but a bunch of “Birthers” on the equivalent of the “9/11 Truthers” but listen to Alan Keyes and tell me what you think:

If only a medal was all it took! It’s truly mind-numbing when you read that all over the country, there’s always some new case of a person’s right to pray being threatened. The temptation is to just stop caring because you read so little good news in that regard. It feels like the days of the prophet Jeremiah. But still, I am amazed at how God protected the New York plane passengers by enabling the pilot to safely land on the Hudson River. People talked about the end of the United States in the Civil War and the lead-up to it, and when massive numbers of Soviet spies infiltrated our government, and when Jimmy Carter sent us into desperate straights–but God has still protected our country. Still, we are bearing the fruit of many vices, and massive repentance around the country is the only thing that can save us.
