Yesterday as I was writing my devotional I was listening to music on my iTunes and I wanted to first hear a song by a local band that’s become very successful in their ministry, Big Daddy Weave. They have a song titled “We Want The World To Hear” and I awoke this morning with the chorus playing through my mind:

    There is none righteous
    There is none worthy
There is none Holy but You the King
I will live my life to sing of Your wonder
To shout of Your glory so creation will hear God
We want the world to hear

In a world that is so puffed up, in a life such as mine that can easily become impressed with myself, in the churches across America who believe they are the only righteous ones, we all need to hear that there is none righteous, there is none worthy, there is none Holy but You King Jesus.

Ecumenism’s goal is to unite all Christian churches throughout the world; to promote cooperation and better understanding among different religious groups and denominations. How do you do that? How do I unite with a church that does not believe Jesus Christ is God? The Prophet Isaiah declared this impossible over 2600 years ago:

“For this is what the LORD says—he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited—he says: ‘I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, “Seek me in vain.” I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right. Gather together and come; assemble, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood, who pray to gods that cannot save. Declare what is to be, present it—let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.’” (Isaiah 45:18-22)

When I agree to ecumenical stands then I deny the Truth of what the Prophet Isaiah has declared. There is no other God but King Jesus, who is the God Incarnate, and it is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself who declared it so:

“I and My Father are one.” (John 10:30)

“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.” (John 14:11)

Ecumenism and tolerance says that I cannot take such an exclusive stance and I say I have no choice. I cannot be unevenly yoked in a religious group if I am to keep silent or compromise the Truth of the One True God. Now I can be united with other ecumenical groups in seeking a solution to societal problems such as a Federal Marriage Amendment or a Personhood Amendment, but I cannot waver on the Truth of the Holy Scriptures.

Those who will not acknowledge King Jesus are His enemies and I will not sign any paper such as the Manhattan Declaration if it will not acknowledge the One and Only True God. Instead I should be declaring the Truth as did Asaph:

“That they may know that You, whose name alone is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.” (Psalm 83:18)

I have too long compromised the Truth of the Gospel and I will no longer do that. After Peter denied Christ three times, when he next saw the Resurrected Christ he never again denied His Lord.

Lord Jesus may I be found as bold as Peter, that although I have denied You, after meeting You and bowing down to You I will never again forsake You.

The opening stanza of the Big Daddy Weave song says:

Eternal King, we bless Your Name
For You were and You are, forever You will be
    Praised in this place
And Lord our hearts are yielded
We give them only to You God

Is your heart yielded to the Lord Jesus Christ? Will you give your heart only to God?

I pray I will; I pray you will. If we are to unite around any cause, let it be that one. Let us unite in corporate prayer that our hearts be yielded and given only to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We do so because we want the world to hear about the One and Only God.

In Christ
