Francis Scott Key

Are we a Christian nation? I tackled this question in my book:

Many evangelicals lament the decline of the nation stating that we are a Christian nation founded on Judeo-Christian principles. They are only half-right. We are an apostate nation that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. An apostate is someone who has abandoned one’s religious faith, and America has clearly abandoned its religious faith.

Indeed America has clearly abandoned its religious faith. Why is that? It is because we have abandoned our Christian character as a nation; we are no longer a virtuous nation. How did that happen? I address this in chapter 10 of my book but suffice it to say that we have kicked God out of every public institution in America so we should not be surprised that we are a godless nation. King Solomon wrote:

“Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.” (Proverbs 25:12)

“…established in righteousness.” Is there righteousness in Washington D.C.? (There will be when my dear friend Sharron Angle is elected)

I would submit to you just the opposite is true. I do not remember a time in American history when wickedness prevailed more than today. Wicked legislators and presidents (both Obama and Bush) are bailing out corrupt bankers, investors, and union bosses completely ignoring the will of the people, all the while they daily break their solemn vow to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

We have no idea how many of our avowed enemy, the Islamic terrorists, are entering our country through our porous borders and all we hear is, “It’s a complex problem needing a comprehensive solution.” Um, might I just suggest that you…

BUILD THE STUPID FENCE!!!

I apologize for shouting in a devotional but wickedness makes me crazy. Wickedness in both political parties who are protecting their selfish, lustful positions keeps our legislators and presidents from doing what any clear-minded American understands. This is what happens to a nation when the rule of natural law and God’s law is ignored and outright violated. Solomon wrote this:

“He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” (Proverbs 17:15)

Does that not just sum up the whole situation in America today? We not only lack Christian patriots serving in public office, but also patriotism itself is scoffed at today. Those fly counter to the intent of our Founders. Francis Scott Key said this in a speech:

“The patriot who feels himself in the service of God, who acknowledges Him in all his ways, has the promise of Almighty direction, and will find His Word in his greatest darkness, ‘a lantern to his feet and lamp unto his paths.’ He will therefore seek to establish for his country in the eyes of the world, such a character as shall make her not unworthy of the name of a Christian nation…”

Try that quote on the “separation of church and state” mentally incapacitated crowd. I can hear the gnashing of teeth right now.

One more verse from Solomon:

“By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.” (Proverbs 11:11)

The only thing that is making me more tired than being overthrown by the mouth of the wicked is the silence of the lambs. Beloved we can no longer sit back and allow our precious country to be torn to pieces. We must stand up for righteousness because that alone is what exalts a nation (to quote Solomon once more).

I want to leave you with another quote and the first person who emails me with who said this I will send you a signed copy of my book.

“Without God there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first—the most basic—expression of Americanism. Thus the founding fathers of America saw it, and thus with God’s help, it will continue to be.”

That recognition of God is a fading sound, barely audible in the pulpits of America, on Capitol Hill, the highest court in the land, and the White House.

It is a deafening sound…

In Christ
