Can You Rejoice?

I have listed many reasons to be thankful and I’m sure that many of you can be thankful for many of these. A few of us can be thankful for all of them. Can you rejoice in the way Jesus told the Seventy? Is your name written in heaven? There is no better reason to be thankful than knowing that you are a child of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

You can receive forgiveness of sins by first realizing that you are a sinner. The Apostle Paul says:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-24)

Once you become convicted of your sin and need of a Savior and believe this in your heart, it is time to confess it. Paul later writes in Romans”

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

If you are ready to confess this and to seek Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, say this prayer:

“Lord Jesus I know that I’m a sinner and that I need a Savior. I know that you died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins. I ask you to forgive me for my sins and I repent and turn from my sinful life. I surrender my life to you Jesus and ask you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior, in your name I pray, amen.”

If you prayed that prayer and truly believed it and have repented, you are a new creation and the angels of heaven are rejoicing. There is a true celebration of thanksgiving going on in heaven right now.

If you are a Christian but have found yourself feeling less thankful than you should be, make a new start today and thank God for all the wonderful things He has done for you. The old hymn says to “count your many blessings, name them one by one.” If you feel like you don’t have much to be thankful for, try doing this. Actually take a piece of paper and write out your many blessings.

This is a very practical exercise for a heart of thanksgiving.

We have much to be thankful for and it really doesn’t take much effort to realize it. If we will take a moment to look at those in our life and all the beauty around us, we cannot help but be thankful. When we look to our Creator and Heavenly Father, we will realize just how blessed we really are.

I pray this is you. Please remember to go to church on Sunday and I’ll see you Monday.

Happy Thanksgiving and May God bless you!

In Christ
Dave
