Man has for so long been a promise-breaker that godly men who wanted to influence society started an organization titled “Promise Keepers.” As noble a cause that desiring to be “men of integrity” is, it is also a sign of man’s corruption. Who can honestly say they have kept all of their promises and before you speak too soon, remember to include all the promises you made to God.

Aren’t you glad that the original Promise Keeper Jesus Christ’s word is true and trustworthy?

“Your word is very pure; therefore Your servant loves it.” (Psalm 119:140)

Do you love God’s Word the Bible? Do you love to find His word, His promises? Have you tested them to see if they are true? The Psalmist did so and declared them pure; trustworthy in every way and worthy of our love.

Why is it that man can make a promise and never keep it? It is a sign of his character. The great ancient Greek tragedy playwright Aeschylus wrote:

“It is not the oath that makes us believe the man, but the man the oath.”

Are you a believable promise maker? Is your word your word? The Apostle James instructed us to:

“But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No,’ lest you fall into judgment.” (James 5:12)

Imagine coming to the end of your life; you have lead a great nation into the Promised Land. You have seen God’s miracles first hand; even partook in them. What would be your farewell address? Many men might concentrate on their accomplishments, but this one godly man concentrated on His God and gave the same encouraging word that he was given by God; be very courageous. As Joshua was getting ready to end life on earth he told the Israelites:

“Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.” (Joshua 23:14)

Is that not one of the most encouraging words ever recorded in the Bible?! Every promise God ever made came true for the Israelites, so much so that they knew it in their hearts and souls. “Not one thing has failed…”

Mercy!

Perhaps you have been badly hurt by promise breakers; it is very hurtful for a daddy to not come through over and over again. I know; I’ve been there. But beloved my encouragement to you that I received from Jesus is to not rest your hopes on man but the God-Man Jesus Christ. He has long since proved His trustworthiness. No man would die for a lie and many a man and woman have died for their Savior Christ.

My prayer for you is that you not only know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and that He is your King, but also that you know Him as the Promise Keeper.

I pray if you are getting on in your years or even starting out you can say with the knowledge buried deep in your heart and soul that of every promise God ever made to you, all have come to pass for you.

Have a blessed day.

In Christ
Dave
