Well word certainly does spread fast! This morning Michelle Malkin posted about my conversation with Nancy Pelosi.
She, along with a few of her commentators, have a healthy skepticism about Ms. Pelosi’s motives. I stated as much but I’m still going to give Madame Pelosi credit for her kind gesture. Whether her motives were pure only God knows, but I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Don’t worry, I’m still maintaining normal breathing patterns.
A big thanks to Michelle for posting about this and thank you to whoever alerted her about it.
Not having been there for the conversation, and having so many unknowns, it’s hard to comment about this, but my guesstimate would be that she’s sincere. Since taking office, the Speaker went all over-to Syria, Iraq, Europe, you name it. She was desperate to find a way to end the war without having to face the obvious consequences of defeat. Along the way, she stopped listening to Code Pink. Even now, she’s not listening to Moveon as much (particularly in the wake of the blowback from their Petraeus ad in the NYT). No, I think by and large the Speaker and most Democratic Party leaders have been ignoring intelligence reports, battlefield reports, and instead been listening to the groups that get them elected. Of course, once elected, it was harder to ignore the realities of war, and the consequences of advocating defeat just to subtract political capital from a lame duck President while trying to garner some kudos from constituents. Month by month, the Democratic Party’s leadership has continuously gone farther and farther from their 2006 anti-war dogma, and now-I think-they’re trying to posture for what will either be a success or a defeat at their urging (more likely the former). It’s often said that the truth hurts. Can you imagine how hard it must be to face the truth as she and other Democrats are-the truth that Iraq is the Central Front in a global holy war (Jihad), and that advocating a withdraw-at-any-cost policy makes those advocates equally advocates of genocide? Besides, they it’s kinda hard to scream “Withdraw! Withdraw!” when it’s already started and shows no signs of stopping before the November elections.
I’m glad she called, and I believe her confused and conflicted sincerity.
News sure does travel quick! I’m glad this is getting attention, and I still am hoping that God will move in big ways! God Bless!
