America has lost one of its great Christian patriots; however America’s loss is Heaven’s gain. Tony Snow went to be with Jesus at 2 a.m. this morning; he died at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
I emailed Tony last year after I read an article of his in World magazine on his faith and perseverance facing cancer. He was not only kind and grateful for my sending him a note; he was gracious and personal in his response back to me. I remember first hearing Tony’s mellow voice in Germany when he would substitute for Rush Limbaugh. America has truly lost a great Christian American patriot.
My son Eddie admired him greatly now and it brings me joy knowing he’s worshipping Jesus in Heaven with a fellow brother in Christ he only knew from afar on earth.
(Hat tip to R2 for the heads up on this sad news)
I heard the news. This makes me so sad. We have a picture of us with Tony taken just last year. When Rod told him about my cancer, he replied, “Oh, Sherri, you had to have the tough treatments! I could never have taken them!” He was so kind, never talked about himself.
We have lost a conservative voice. Now he speaks with the angels.
Somehow he always seemed different to me than the rest of the White House. Our loss is heaven’s gain, and for Christians it’s only a temporary loss. 🙂 I’ve heard accounts of the profound faith both he and Tim Russert had, and I think they’re so alike in the dignity they brought to very hard positions. And what a fine smile Tony Snow had!
I heard about this on our local morning news. It was kind of a shock even though I knew he was fighting cancer again, but it’s sad. I’m glad – so glad he was a faithful Christian and that he’s not suffering anymore. Thank you Dave for a thoughtful memory of him. God Bless, and God be withhis family and firends. Carolyn
Thanks for posting this. We haven’t had the TV on all day. The school where my husband went to school had built a new one, and they are going to demolish the old one (school had been there 68 years). New school is beautiful. They called it the last blast before the school being torn down…..reason for us not hearing the announcement. Tony Snow was one of our favorites ………if not the favorite. There will certainly be a void in his passing. We will be thinking of him and praying for his family.
