I need all of you to not only read this post and the follow-on, but I need you to please pass this great open letter to all your conservative friends. This is from my brother in Christ JB Williams. Thanks!
My Fellow Conservatives,
The conservative movement in American politics has never been more fractured by in-fighting than it is today and we must find a way to fix it, fast.
In the good ole days, all of my hate mail came from sniveling liberals angry with my ultra-conservative message about the founding principles and values that made America the greatest nation in earth’s history.
But today, most of my hate mail comes from self-styled conservatives and angry Republicans who can’t seem to agree on what it means to be Republican, much less conservative.
I believe that we are headed for a disastrous loss this November and that such a loss can forever change the direction of this nation in an irreversible leap into pure Democratic Socialism that will soon after, be the ruin of my beloved country.
If I’m right, it will be “conservatives” who cause it, not liberals.
As a result of the “compassionate” policies of too many Republicans over the last ten years or so, social spending at a pace that should make even a drunken Kennedy blush, appeasing leftist notions from open borders to immoral social behaviors, and failing to finish the battles we accept in a decisive manner, Republican voters have lost focus and faith in their own party or their ability to affect positive change via the election process.
While there is valid cause for concern in all of these areas, the answer is NOT to shrink from the challenges, but to rise to these occasions.
Working directly with conservative congressional candidates to take back conservative control of at least the senate is a MUST DO no matter who becomes the next President. But today, I want to address the importance of WHO becomes the next President.
As you all know, John McCain is almost the LAST Republican I expected to be the RNC nominee and just about the LAST individual I thought I would ever vote for in November. We all know how he became the nominee. We lost control of our nominating process long ago and in the future, we must work to regain control here too.
But this November, each of us will find ourselves with the same set of limited options.
1) Vote AGAINST Clinton-Obama by voting for the only candidate left who can defeat Clinton-Obama
2) Sit it out and let Clinton-Obama win unopposed
3) Cast a 3rd party protest vote and let Clinton-Obama win by default
Only one of these options keeps Hillary Clinton or Barrack Hussein Obama out of the Oval Office for the next four years.
Now, some “conservatives” are claiming that either there is no identifiable difference between McCain and the other two candidates, or in some cases, that McCain is even WORSE than either Clinton or Obama for the future of America. There is NO factual basis for either claim and to keep my fellow conservatives from buying into either of these anger driven lies, I have researched and prepared the following diagram of official positions on the top twenty issues facing our nation today. Read my closing comments after reviewing the chart on the candidates official positions.
Three Candidates on the Issues
These positions are NOT based upon the current campaign rhetoric. All three candidates are US Senators and as such, they all have a clear record of official votes and formal position statements on all of the top twenty issues. This chart of official positions is based upon their votes and their official position statements as US Senators. In some cases, their official positions are different from their current rhetorical campaign positions aimed at buying votes. It is their OFFICIAL past track record on the issues that tells us what they really believe in and stand for.
If you doubt the facts presented in this chart, I challenge you to research it all for yourselves at On The Issues or the congresional records themselves.
Check back in tomorrow for the conclusion of the great conservative manifesto.
I usually vote a straight Republican ticket, however this time it is different. Why should I vote for a man tha is 85% liberal when I can vote for a democrat and get a 100% liberal. I am going for 100% pure no diluted dose of liberal for me. If I am going to stick it to the USA I can think of no better way than this. May the middle class rot under the onerous tax burden headed their way! They deserve it for voting for McCain.
I believe that Satan is using the McCain issue to divide the remnant of Americans, however imperfect we are, who can actually make a difference. Please don’t take offense at the passion I have about this election:
I felt from the moment I read Fred Thompson’s policies that it was God’s will that he be President. I do not go merely by feelings, either. He was the only candidate who was gaining momentum in his last week as a candidate, and he would have probably won the 55% of undecided voters in Louisiana if he had not quit the previous day. ‘Nuf said about why I thought he could unite the party. See, I believe that a few people, like George Soros, have tirelessly worked to pressure Republican voters (via the media) with bogus polls and a flawed system of primaries. That being said, I think it’s madness to resign myself to voting for McCain when he has said American lives lost are “wasted treasures”. He has not changed his views, which would lead me to believe he will again side with bigoted secularists. He also changes his tune in the blink of an eye, and I’ve seen it over and over. To me, THIS ISN’T ABOUT BASHING MCCAIN, as much as saying that we need to each make a concerted effort to bring back our favorite conservative.
It’s hard for me to keep hoping for a better future when many people have different ideas about how to get there. If we all have different plans, how can we ever have the unity to strive for a return to Christian values? For many, voting for McCain is the only way to avoid the worse candidate. For others, Hillary should become President to create a strong backlash against her and her policies.
Participation in this election cycle is a thing of personal conviction, I know. I still believe that if enough people believe, we can get back the only front-runner who was a well-rounded, honest conservative (Fred Thompson). There is even a new site called the Thompson Coalition, which tells us how much patriotism he can inspire!
Sorry Dave- I had a problem and lost my connection a few minutes ago, and can’t remember all I said! The basics was that I also read JB’s article in NMJ just now as well- and I don’t understand all of America’s political system yet- but since I’ve been living in this incredible country, I’ve seen republicans roll over and play dead too much- even when there’s a dem. minority. Also seems that there are too many promises broken. People work hard and support folks who come off as true Christian conservatives, but then they throw out all morals and values as soon as they get to Washington. I’m sorry to sound so cynical. I was only old enough to vote in one national election in Canada before I moved to the States, and it is sadly much the same up there. If in fact we become a North American Union as some seem to so desire, I really don’t see much difference anymore with the secular/ leftist /socialist mindset coming out of either capital :-O . God Bless you Dave- and thak you both for all of your hard work~
Satan doesn’t need to use McCain Christopher……Obama and all his minions are running around with a 666 stamp as millions willing accept it…..
I’ll hold my nose, puke, and vote…….all at the same time….. for McCain…
This open letter is written specifically for the Kevin Foley’s out there who have bought into the angry rhetoric about McCain and not taken the time to study the facts.
Like many conservatives currently blinded by anger, Kevin reports that he opposes McCain because he believes McCain to be “85% liberal” and Kevin wants to stand on principle.
As one who very much stands on principle, my first principle is to know the truth first, before deciding a course of action. In this case, the statement that McCain is 85% liberal is simple untrue.
When the balance of this column is posted and you read the issues chart on the three remaining presidential candidates, you will find that McCain holds firmly conservative positions on 16 of 20 issues. That makes McCain officially 80% conservative, the opposite of 85% liberal.
Kevin’s assertion that McCain is 85% liberal is an emotional statement, not a factual statement.
Unless my conservative friends are going to sit their anger aside and deal in facts not emotions, we are going to defeat ourselves this fall.
Obama is reluctantly conservative on only 1 of 20 issues, and Clinton is conservative on only 2 of the 20. Conservatives want to see a Democrat they disagree with 100% in the WH because they only agree with McCain 80% on 16 of 20 issues?
