What if I told you I knew the secret to life? If I told you that I have found the perfect recipe for success in life, the source of all joy and happiness, would you be interested? Of course you would!

I’m sure you’ve already guessed that I’m speaking of the Bible, but do you realize what a valuable gift God’s Word is? With all the confusion about how to live our lives right and seeking what is true, would it not make sense to go to the Creator and His how-to-manual? Look what the Bible says about God and His Holy Word:

“For the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is done in truth.” (Psalm 33:4)

I know many Christians who question the inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible and there is one simple reason for that; they haven’t read their Bibles enough nor have they searched for its truth. The more you read your Bible the more the word of God is revealed in your own life. One of our past presidents knew that:

“When you have read the Bible, you will know it is the word of God, because you have found it the key to your own heart, your own happiness and your own duty.” Woodrow Wilson, 28th President

The Bible is indeed the key to our hearts leading to happiness and purpose in life:

“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” (Psalm 19:8)

Our hearts rejoice because of our righteousness which comes from God’s righteous statutes. We find our purpose in service to Christ because our eyes are opened to the goodness of God’s commandments.

Do you find God’s commandments burdensome? There is a problem there for you if you do; a very serious problem, as the Apostle John writes:

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” (1 John 5:2-3)

If you are born again you should not find God’s commandments burdensome because we are a new creation in Christ. And if you are a new creation in Christ you will keep His commandments:

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

Those seven words do not require a theology degree or a special anointing of faith. Does it mean that if I slip up and sin that I’m not saved or I don’t love Jesus. If you’re okay with your sin then I would definitely question your salvation. The Holy Spirit indwells a new believer and he or she grieves the Holy Spirit with sin and unrepentant sin breaks our fellowship with God.

Oh my gosh Bro Dave I sinned and I haven’t repented and I’m confused on what to do. Did you kill a man? After you slept with his wife? After you got her pregnant and tried to get the husband to sleep with her immediately after so he would think he was the father? No? Those are some pretty vile actions, clearly not committed by a saved man. That’s not what the Bible says and when the Prophet Nathan came to King David and confronted David with his sin, he repented of his sin and was restored to a right relationship.

How? He wrote it down:

“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight—that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.” (Psalm 51:1-12)

America is trying to medicate, regulate, legislate, inoculate, nominate, evaluate and locate the seemingly unending problems in the world and the ever elusive solutions.

America is looking in the wrong place.

Each of us search our own hearts and have God through the Holy Spirit reveal what in our lives are contrary to His purpose for us.

Are you beginning to see the value of God’s Word?

Go read your Bible and watch God through His Word open your heart to His Truth.

Once you start and keep at it, you won’t be able to get enough.

In Christ
Dave
