Many of you have asked me about the upcoming federal court hearing for Pace High School Principal Kenneth Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman. Their hearing will be this Thursday, September 17, 9am in Federal Court, Room 4 North. The Courthouse is located at the intersection of Garden St. and Palafox St., Pensacola, FL.

Map to Courthouse

I plan on being there around 8:30 to try and get into the courtroom but if not then I will definitely be outside joining the many saints I know that are coming to have a prayer vigil over this hearing. We are not coming to protest the ACLU, the judge, or the consent order. We are coming to call on Our Father who art in Heaven to have His will be done in this hearing.

I did contact the lawyer representing the school board and I’ve posted my email and his response below. If you have not already began, please begin praying for our Pace brothers.

    Dear Mr. Marsey,

My name is David Jeffers and I am a Christian blogger and author living in Navarre, Santa Rosa County, Florida. I am closely following the Pace High School prayer case and reading the school board minutes I noted you “emphasized that the district is not giving up anything; we will simply be complying with the law.”

This brought up at least three questions for me that I commented on at my blog post:

    http://www.saltandlightblog.com/1951/not-giving-up-anything/

    My questions for you are:

    1. Whom do you consider “the district?”
    2. With which law are you complying?
    3. Are not the faculty indeed giving up their First Amendment rights in the US Constitution and religious freedom rights in Article I, Section 3 of the Florida constitution if the consent decree prohibits “staff promotion or participating in prayer with students”?

Sir, I humbly request that you read my blog post and answer my questions to help clarify anything you think I am missing in this argument.

I greatly appreciate your time and thank you in advance for your comments.

    Sincerely,

    In Christ,
    Dave Jeffers

    Mr. Jeffers,

Thank you for expressing your interest in this case. The Rules governing the Northern District of Florida prevent me from commenting on the merits of the case, which necessarily includes answering the questions you have posed. The questions you have asked will be answered through the briefing of issues and filings made with the Court over the next few months. I encourage you to review these publicly available documents when they become available.

    Sincerely,

    J. David Marsey

So no answers until after the hearing.

I will indeed be following this up.

Folks the hearing is not the end of this issue; it is merely the beginning.

Stay tuned, stay focused, and stay on your knees!!
