I want to invite my readers to join me in helping out our soldiers in Hawaii. I personally called this concerned Army wife, Sue Ollar and confirmed that her email is legitimate. I will be putting a check in the mail to buy a soldier a $40 voucher so his or her family can have Christmas dinner.
If you cannot afford the $40, then you can purchase a Hawaiian holiday ornament for $5 and the proceeds will go towards this worthy program.
I wanted to share the original email so you could read it for yourself. I appreciate Mrs. Ollar taking the initiative to meet this important need. What a wonderful way to say thank you to the troops; what an honor.
Here is Sue’s email:
Hey ya’ll,
I normally wouldn’t ask my Friends, but my heart is a little broken…
I recently found out that we have more than 238 Army families here on Schofield Barracks that really need help buying food this Christmas.
Army Community Services (ACS) is trying to raise enough money to give each Soldier in need a $40.00 commissary card to buy food. The Soldiers have all applied and been screened – they can only buy food with the card.
ASC cannot solicit for help. So…I thought I would put my big mouth to work, so far there are no rules against that. Ha! Ha!
I don’t usually like asking, but to know that the men and women that defend our freedom, the very same ones we call heroes, can’t afford to feed their own families a nice Christmas meal, makes me sick inside.
I know that most of you (like myself) have already given to Toys for Tots and the person “ringing that bell” outside every store. There is no bell ringing out for Soldiers! Let’s “take care of our own”. I still love you if you can’t, but for those who can …please give it up!!!!
You can make checks payable to ACS and mail it to me:

Those of you here in Hawaii can donate on post. You can also get more info from the ladies at ACS, Laura and Mercedes, at 808-655-4227 or 655-1717 and 655-1716.
Thanks so much! Have a Merry Christmas and keep in touch! By the way, they need the money before Christmas!!!! That’s only 2 weeks away!
Please Help! A way to really “Support Your Troops”.
Feel free to pass it on!
From my heart,
Sue Ollar

Hi Dave- sounds like another worthy plan, but it sure is sad that those who are protecting us all can’t even afford the basics at Christmas time. I hope We can all do what we can for them. God Bless you and all of them! Thank you Dave~ Carolyn
Dave send Sue Ollar my e-mail address (or hers to me) and ask if she can take paypal donations for the troops? If so I’d like to make a corporate contribution. Send my love to her, Donny & the kids…
Beth & Imani are doing wonderfully well…

Hello,
Because of a over $15,000 Hospital Bill this year, I won’t be able to
send out a check/money order to you before the 17th of December.
Now it may not get there before Christmas, but Hopefully, by the New Years
Day.
Please let me know what address I can send my check to.
Thank you.

Hello Sue, My chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers (we all share
the same heartache with the loss of our sons or daughters) who served in
Iraq and Afghanistan wish to make a donation of $100.00 for the Christmas dinners. It is not easy to cope with the empty chairs during
the Holiday Season but with sincere love and prayers we will continue to
support our troops. We love you all and are so proud of our troops. Wish
it could be more.
