It’s pretty gloomy out there isn’t it? I’m not talking about the weather; I’m talking about the state of the union, our nation.
To hear some speak the end is near and God is no longer on His throne. He has forgotten America and His Church here. While God has removed His hand of protection from America, at least in some part, He can still be trusted to save us.
Monday night at our Men’s Ministry our pastor read the 37th Psalm. I love that psalm (as you can see in my signature block below) because it reminds us in whom we are to trust. The third verse exhorts us to…
-
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.†(Psalm 37:3)
When Bro Dennis read this verse, it immediately spoke to me and when he had finished reading the whole psalm, he camped on this verse and gave us some sound principles from it. This truly fed my soul because it has been troubled somewhat by all that is before me and some important decisions I will have to make in the future.
I have found myself trusting in all that I need to do to prepare for the future and as any realist will discover, that is an insurmountable task; that is if I try to do it on my own. But the Prophet Isaiah reminds me of my God’s faithfulness:
-
“Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.†(Isaiah 26:4)
What is it that you are facing right now that is overwhelming you? Are you looking around and finding yourself where you never imagined? Are you thinking to yourself, “God, is this all there is?â€
It is so easy for me to get wrapped up in the issues of the day that I forget to Whom I belong. I am a child of God, blood-bought by Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.
He is my Comfort.
He is my Deliverer.
He is my Helper.
He is my Overcomer.
He is my Victor.
No matter what I am facing I can have the blessed assurance that God will have the victory over His enemies, and His enemies are my enemies. I need to concentrate on that fact. I need to cry out to God and acknowledge His strength in all I face:
-
“Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.†(Psalm 108:12-13)
What about you dear friend? What are you facing this morning that seems so insurmountable? What kind of enemy are you facing today? Are you…am I…looking to man for help? David tells us the help of man is useless.
We need to turn to God for help from trouble.
We need to trust in the Lord…forever.
Have you trusted Christ for salvation? That alone is your greatest need; redemption of your sins is the biggest and most costliest bill you have to pay. It will cost you your very soul. The good news…the Gospel…is we have a Redeemer and His name is Jesus.
No matter the trouble you are facing today, turn to Him. He will give you help from trouble.
Man’s help is useless.
Only God can overcome what you are facing.
Let’s trust Him, always and forever.
Amen.
In Christ
Dave
