The dog days of summer are in full swing and August arrives tomorrow suddenly and without warning.

Does anyone know what just happened?

The last 193 days have been interesting, perilous, maddening, rewarding, and…well I’m sure I could go on.

If all goes as planned you will wake up Monday morning and a wonderful thing will happen in the House of Representatives.

It will be empty.

And if God truly blesses America in August, the same thing will be happening in the Senate the following Monday.

It too will be empty.

The House calls it “Summer District Work Period” (August 3 – September 4) and the Senate calls it “State Work Period” (August 10 – September 7).

I call it a momentary victory.

We the People have been somewhat victorious because we have momentarily held off Obamacare and while Obama rammed through TARP II, cap and tax, and banking and auto industry bailout, the onslaught is just beginning.

I have been asked by many of my readers what they can do about stopping Obamacare and the rest of his agenda.

I have been accused by “birther” critics of focusing on and wasting time pursuing Obama’s birth certificate and other documents.

I have maintained in “Multitasking” that we are capable of doing both, wisely using our time and money to stop the Obama and statist agendas, so here is a “to do” list for August.

When it comes to Obama care, please visit Peter Fleckenstein’s, former Marine from Phoenix, Arizona, blog Common Sense from a Common Man where Pete has done yeoman’s work in detailing the monstrosity that is Obamacare.

Become very familiar with the nonsensical and liberty-stripping measures that are included in this bill.

Then attend any public meetings that your US Representative and/or US Senators are holding and ask them which of these ridiculous measures they support.

And do not be surprised by the thousand yard stare they give you.

Most of them will probably never admit it but they are more than likely in agreement with John Conyer’s statement about reading the bill.

Also read both the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution, no matter how many times you have read both.

Go rent, or better yet, buy the HBO DVD series and soundtrack “John Adams.” It will inspire you.

Both houses call these blessed recesses work periods.

I say we work them over, period!

Let them know you are watching and that their future is in your hands.

And if you have a really lame Lame Duck as our senator here in Florida, Mel Martinez, since he has already anointed Governor Charlie Crist as his replacement, we Floridians need to let them both know that Martinez’ actions will be applied to Crist, unless Crist comes out and specifically distances himself from some of Martinez’ positions, such as he did with the Sotomayor nomination.

Even though Congress is in recess they can, just like kids on a school playground, cause trouble.

Do not let up!

Stay vigilant!

Remember the words of Winston Churchill:

“Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.”
